“hey, Sakura, look it looks like the first stone face dude!”, an twelve years old Naruto excitedly shows a seed the size of a acorn he found out on the ground to his pink haired teammate.
They were doing some gardening as a D-rank mission and the newly minted team was bored as all hell, so Naruto’ stupid antics for once was a welcomed distraction.
“Naruto, you idiot, that Lord First!”, Sakura says looking angry at her dumb teammate and at the seed in his hands, “but it does look like him!”.
“hey, wasn’t him like… capable of using, what was that called again?”, Naruto scratches his head.
“wood release?”, Sakura adds with a raised eyebrow.
“yes, that!!”, Naruto says excitedly as he looks at the nut with a puzzled look, “do you think if I plant this would the tree look like him?”.
Sakura, who had come to kind of like the sort of innocent if not plain stupid way her teammate’s mind worked at times was about to punch him for his stupidity, but instead, a she got to think…
“well… I’ve seen weirder things, so maybe I guess”, comes the lazy voice of Kakashi, “now, less talking and more weeding”.
“yes”, the three genin grunt in answer.
It would be good seven years before he could actually plant said seed.
Right after the Pain invasion and after the Akatsuki was no more (no shinobi war in this one, but Naruto still managed to reach the power he had during the war), Tsunade felt it was fair for her to give Naruto his inheritance, at least what was left of it.
Which included the rest of the Namikaze-Uzumaki funds and the plot the house his parents had bough to start a family who now would house Naruto and the mysterious girlfriend he managed to keep a secret from the village.
When he broke the news to Hinata, he was expecting the beating of a lifetime, after all, the girl put her life on the line while confessing to him.
What he didn’t expected was to feel genuine happiness coming from her… mixed with something else he was pretty sure he didn’t wanted to know, but he knew wasn’t jealously.
“it surely is spacious”, Haku says. The older girl looks around the house noticing that save from the layer of dust, it was impeccable, “it’s perfect”.
“yes it is”, Naruto agrees looking at the backyard, “also, I finally have space to plant this!”.
He pulls out from his pocket a seed, dusty and little cracker and dried but still loking as good as the day he found it.
“interesting, it looks like a person”, Haku says, looking at the seed in her boyfriend’s hand.
“yup, it looks like the first stone face dude”, Naruto says.
“you mean the first Hokage?”, Haku asks, already versed in how her boyfriend naming skills worked and then looking in the general direction of the destroyed Hokage monument.
“that very same!”, Naruto says with a bright smile, “I’ve been carrying this seed for seven years since I’ve found it when I was still a genin”.
(in this one Naruto became a chuunin because Tsunade saw no reason for him not be one, especially considering the quality of people who are active chuunin, seriously, Izumo and Kotetsu spent more time taking paid naps while on guard duty than actually guarding the gate, if they weren’t demoted to genin, then why Naruto can’t be chuunin?)
“I always wondered if the three would look like old man first”, Naruto says.
Haku chuckles at the innocent way her beloved tough process worked, but she didn’t questioned, after all, both had seen weirder things.
“now you can finally find out”, Haku says with a giggle, “but first, you are gonna help me dust this place”.
“yes ma’am”, Naruto says, putting the seed back into his pocket.
“good”, Haku says, leaning forward and giving him a sweet kiss on his lips, “now, come on, I have a special surprise for you when we finish”.
Eagerly, Naruto follows her back inside.
The sun was setting when Naruto finally goes back to the back yard while Haku slept.
“this looks like a nice place”, Naruto says, kneeling on the ground and digging a small hole.
He places the seed inside the hole in the ground, covers it back with dirt and gives it a good soaking.
“can’t wait to see what kind of plant will grow from it”, Naruto says excitedly.
Days pass and soon become weeks, every day, either him or Haku water the spot and after a week, a small sprout comes of the ground.
During the middle of Night, Naruto is awaken from his sleep as he hears shuffling on the backyard.
“is something wrong?”, Haku asks as she stirs awake.
“don’t worry babe, go back to bed, I’ll check it out”, Naruto says, reassuring his girlfriend.
“no, I’m going with you”, Haku says, getting up, “you might need an extra pair of eyes”.
Knowing that arguing was useless, Naruto relents.
“fine, but if things get messy I want you to run away ok?”, Naruto says.
They both walk down the stairs with utmost care to not make a sound as they make their way into the kitchen where they see the silhouette of a tall figure rummaging in the dim moon light illuminating the kitchen.
“how did he got in?”, Haku whispers to Naruto as he notices the backdoor opened.
“I think he picked the lock”, Naruto whispers back, “I’ll go there, stand behind me”.
Naruto walks silently until he is crouching behind the figure who moved as if he was confused.
Not wasting any time once he deduces the figure has his back tuned, Naruto launches himself at the intrudes, who quickly turns around, but not fast enough to avoid being pinned down to the kitchen table.
There’s a struggle as Naruto wrestles the intruder, but he… no she was putting up a good fight trying to get herself free from his grasp.
“I don’t know who are you, but stop fighting before you get hurt!”, Naruto demands while still wrestling against the figure while trying to breath trough what it felt like water balloons covered in dirt.
“w-where am I?”, the figure say and by his tone, it was woman.
Noticing that she was struggling against someone, the figure lets out a scream before intensively letting out a chakra burst, sending her supposedly captor flying and as soon as she hears his back hitting the floor she gets into fighting position.
“wood style!”, she says, doing three hand seals, “roots biding justsu!!”.
The floor comes to life as roots springs from the underground and wrap themselves around Naruto.
“w-what’s…”, the strange woman tries to ask as her heart rate but before she could finish.
She feel two pricks on her neck and next thing she knows, her vision goes black.
“ice style”, Haku says, softly after the tall woman falls to the floor, “cryogenic coffin”.
The woman is involved in an ice casket from the neck down.
After making sure the stranger was properly immobilized, she goes to Naruto, freeing him after freezing the roots and breaking it.
“thanks Haku”, Naruto says as he gets up and goes to turn on the lights, “now let’s see who…”.
As the lights turn on, the stranger is revealed to be woman, a very tall, probably six feet something woman.
Very tall, six feet something naked woman covered in dirt.
“what the…”, Naruto says as the woman starts stirring back awake.
“oh, hello, would you kindly tell me where am I?”, the woman asks as the senbon imbedded on her neck falls off with a clink to the floor, “also, why is so cold here?”.
“uhm, ma’am, who are you?”, Naruto asks as Haku stands.
“also, you are naked and inside a an ice coffin”, Haku adds, keeping her emotion in check, but freaking out inside, she was pretty sure that the woman would have remained unconscious until she removed the senbon.
It was the first time she saw someone getting up from that b themselves.
“oh, yes, sorry, I’m Hashirama Senju”, the woman says cheerfully, using her chakra to raise her body temperature to melt the ice and free herself, “sorry for the mess, I’ll clean it up”.
Naruto was confused.
“sorry, I think I didn’t heard you right”, Naruto says checking to see if his ears were clean, “did you said Hashirama, like, the first Hokage?”.
“wait, first?”, Hashirama, asks with a confused expression, ”in which Hokage are we now?”.
“the fifth”, Haku answers, a little peeved that the intruder that called herself Hashirama was messing the floor she had cleaned.
“fifth?!”, Hashirama exclaims in joy, “so the village lasted that long?! Who is it, the fifth Hokage?”.
“granny Tsunade”, Naruto answers an gets amazed and scared at how Hashirma’s expression goes from joyful to depressed at the drop of a hat.
“Tsuna huh”, she sighs, “it’s the village ok?”.
“yes, why did you ask?”, Naruto questions.
“well, Tsuna was my first grandchild, so I spoiled her rotten, in the end she even got my gambling habit”, Hashirama says letting out a laught.
Now Naruto was creeped out, because he remembers Tsunade telling him the she got her gambling habits from her grandpa.
“ok, so you are indeed the old man first but…”, Naruto says, pointing to her boobs.
“oh… so, funny story”, Hashirama says with an awkward laugh, “when mom got preganat with me, dad wanted a son… so he got a son, even though I was born a girl”.
“how?”, Haku asks now it was her turn to be confused.
“well, let’s just say that the body transmutation jutsu is forbidden for a reason”, Hashirama say awkwardly, “still, were exactly am I?”.
“you are in Kononha and you just broke into my house”, Naruto says, “also, weren’t you supposed to be dead, how did you got here?”.
“I think I was”, Hashirama says, her expression showing that she was putting a lot of brain juice into figuring out how did she got there, “last thing I remember before waking up to you wrestling me was that I was crawling out of the ground”.
Naruto after hearing this, kind of put two and two together and gets up and goes check the backyard.
Lo and behold, there it was, a big hole where the seed he planted should be.
In that moment, his two in the morning brain decides that he is not equipped to deal with that, so he turns to Haku.
“babe, can you keep an eye on her, I’ll be back soon”, he says walking back into the house to put on some clothes.
“where are you going?”, Haku asks as Naruto puts on his sandals after putting on a pair of sweat pants.
“to wrestle granny out of whatever bar she is and drag her here to deal with this”, he says, getting up.
“oh, please do that”, Haku says, “I’ll keep an eye on her”.
She gives him a sweet kiss as he goes out of the door.
